Greater Western Sydney
The Greater Western Sydney Chapter of BDA is centred on the Penrith – Blacktown corridor of outer Sydney with an estimated population of almost 2 million people.
The region extends to the Hawkesbury area in the north, the Blue Mountains to the west, south to the Wollondilly and although it overlaps with the adjoining Sydney Chapter to the east, the boundary blurs somewhere to the west of Parramatta, and as such all members are afforded the choice to relate with either Chapter.
The Chapter meets at the Penrith RSL Club on the 2nd Wednesday of every month commencing at 7:30pm with all members and guests invited to assemble for dinner (optional) from 6:00pm.
A typical meeting night goes as following:
- Dinner (optional)
- Industry Supplier Presentations
- Chapter Member Presentations – One member per meeting has an opportunity to display one of their works to the Chapter in an effort to familiarise ourselves with each other’s work.
- Let’s talk Architecture – This is a section of the meeting that allows all members to share any experiences they have encountered with respect to our industry that may be of value to other members (e.g. Change of certain regulations, an issue that may have arisen on a project, etc.)
Social events are held a couple of times throughout the year and the Chapter also participates in JVP organised site and facility tours as well as combined meetings with other Chapters, notably the Sydney Chapter.
