WHO ARE WE?

The Building Designers Association of Australia is the peak coordinating body for Building Designers Associations in Australia.

The Association is recognised as a proactive leader on issues affecting the built environment and the building industry.

Building Designers Associations across Australia have a total of about 1400 members.

Estimates indicate that Building Designers prepare about 80% of all documentation submitted to Councils for Building Approval. On average, each member designs and documents building work to the value of about $7 million every year. This is a staggering total of $10 billion dollars per annum, or about 40% (by value) of all building work in Australia .

Requirements for membership of the Building Designers Associations vary slightly from State to State, but generally, applications for membership must satisfy the State Membership committee that they are competent designers, and are judged on

Members must comply with a strict code of ethics and professional standards laid down by the Association. Members are encouraged to undertake Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and operate at the highest professional level at all times.
