BDAA AIMS & OBJECTIVES

GENERAL

  1. To be recognised as the leading professional design force in the building industry
  2. To be a proactive leader on issues affecting the built environment and the building industry at a national level.
  3. To be recognised as the industry voice for building designers on National issues.
  4. To be recognised as the central resource agency for matters related to building design.
  5. To be recognised as a key stakeholder in all relevant building industry issues.

    GOVERNMENT LIAISON

  6. To be active in the development of Standards, By Laws, Legislation and Documentation relevant to the Building Design Profession.
  7. To liaise with Government on matters relating to Building Design. To be an effective representative of Building Designers to Government and industry on legislative, technical, environmental, and educational issues.

    PROMOTION

  8. To promote the value and importance of Building Design to the public
  9. To promote building designers as professionals
  10. To provide consumer awareness of Building Designers and their contribution to the building industry and the wider community.
  11. To promote excellence in Building Design.
  12. To increase the awareness and recognition of the value of Building Designers by government, industry and consumers.

    BUILT ENVIRONMENT

  13. To advance the quality of building design and the built environment
  14. To promote and encourage Environmentally Sustainable Development
  15. To provide an awareness of the importance of Heritage values in building design.

    CONSUMER PROTECTION

  16. To promote and encourage ethical conduct and sound business practice in the Building Design profession.
  17. To promote consumer protection by advocating that all members carry Professional Indemnity Insurance.

    EDUCATION & TRAINING

  18. To promote and achieve the highest degree of professionalism amongst Building Designers.
  19. To be active in the development of education and training standards relevant to the building design profession.
  20. To facilitate ongoing structured professional development program for members.

    RIGHTS AND INTERESTS OF BUILDING DESIGNERS

  21. To be a credible and powerful advocate for the interests of building designers throughout Australia.
  22. To support the rights of Building Designers who become the subject of victimisation, suffer prejudice or could be detrimentally affected by the actions of others.
  23. To have the competencies of members officially recognised
  24. To foster a national sense of responsibility for issues affecting the building design profession.
  25. To facilitate the sharing of resources between State Chapters of the BDA.
  26. To promote and enhance the profession of Building Design

    BDAA WELFARE

  27. To maintain cooperation and consultation between State and Territory chapters of the BDA movement.
  28. To recognise and value those who contribute to the BDAA
  29. To generate sufficient recurrent income to ensure the prosperous future for the BDAA
